Beautiful Lake House on Lake James in Nebo, North Carolina
Lake James is the first and cleanest lake in the Catawba Chain of Lakes. It is a large lake with more than 150 miles of shoreline surrounded by the mountains of North Carolina. The unique layout of this lake offers lots of open water for boating, tubing, jet skiing, and wakeboarding. Plus it has numerous quiet coves to fish, picnic or just relax in. It is a quiet and pristine lake with gorgeous mountain views.

The northern shore of the lake is made up of the Pisgah National Forest, providing the perfect backdrop for hiking, exploring breathtaking waterfalls, zip lining, gem mining, white water rafting, and more. Nearby attractions include Lake James State Park, Linville Gorge, Falls and Caverns, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt. Mitchell (tallest peak), Tablerock, Chimney Rock, Brown Mountain, Black Mountain, Grandfather Mountain, The Biltmore Estate in Asheville, Boone/Blowing Rock, Beech Mountain, Sugar Mountain, and more. It's an easy hour and a half, to hour and 45 minute, drive from local airports of Charlotte and Greenville/Spartanburg, NC.
The house is situated in the back of a quiet cove in a no-wake zone, so you can swim and float off the private dock without a care in the world. Generally during the week the water is clear and calm, and the lake uncrowded, but if it's action on the water you crave, come during peak summer weeks. It has an interior space of 1400 sq. ft. with three bedrooms, two full baths, family room, dining room, complete kitchen, expansive deck and a laundry room. It is fully air conditioned and offers both hardwood and carpeted flooring areas. The master has a king bed and adjoining bathroom, as well as an alcove that is perfect for a child to sleep (twin mattress included). One downstairs spare room has a king bed and built-in wardrobe, the other has a trundle bed that makes into a full or 2 twins. The living room has a queen sleeper sofa.
Each bedroom includes all necessary linens, storage closets and/or dresser, televisions, DVD players and VCR's. Each bathroom has a tub with shower, large sink, mirrors, multiple lighting with fans and a complete supply of towels and wash clothes.The kitchen comes fully equipped with all necessary cooking and eating utensils. A blender, toaster, hand mixer and coffee maker are also supplied. The fridge has an ice maker and glass shelves.
A great place to hang out is the large wrap around deck. Enjoy a meal amongst the trees and then relax in the hammock while you watch humming birds eat at their feeders. Kick back in the shade with a good book, surrounded by nature.
The two story dock lends itself to lots of water activities including cannonballs off the top deck, swimming, fishing, kayacking, or just floating around in the clear, cool water. Life jackets are available for all sizes. The dock also has access for a boat available for rent from one of the nearby marinas (see links to marinas at bottom), offering fuel, general supplies and live bait. The neighborhood is small, quaint and the views are beautiful; the streets are rolling and make for great walking and running. There are views of the lake and the mountains from every vantage point. Summer is great at the lake, Fall is especially beautiful with the mist coming off the lake, and the early morning fog rolling off the mountains, and Winter provides an opportunity to ski at nearby resorts.
